With versions 0.3.1 and 0.3.2, the Frontline RCON Tool Significantly developed. The focus is on three things that are particularly important for professional game server operators: a secure Discord connection, lower resource consumption and reliable operation of multiple servers.
The innovations were not only tested under laboratory conditions. They ran on four productive RCON instances with Hell Let Loose and Hell Let Loose: Vietnam.
Discord reports securely and centrally
With version 0.3.1, the Discord integration has been expanded for use with different customers and communities.
The frontline app can be connected directly to the desired Discord server. The assignment is secured on the server side: The selected Discord server is permanently connected to the respective RCON installation and cannot simply be manipulated in the browser.
Multiple game servers within an installation are clearly distinguished in the Discord messages – including server name, server number and game. As a result, moderators keep an overview even if a community operates several HLL or HLL Vietnam servers.
Incoming player reports can be edited directly in Discord. The first moderator who takes over a report automatically reserves it. This prevents multiple administrators from executing conflicting actions at the same time.
Particularly sensitive measures such as a permanent ban, a blacklist entry or the dissolution of a squad still require a reason, a preview and an additional confirmation.
Optional AI support – the human decides
The tool can optionally analyze reports as well as suspicious chat messages and player names. The AI provides only a recommendation. It never independently performs an action on the game server.
Moderators can review, modify, or completely reject suggestions. This connects the Frontline RCON Tool faster processes with the necessary human control.
Even in the event of a failure of the AI, the report system remains functional: The report is still transmitted to Discord and only marked as not automatically analyzed. If Discord is temporarily unreachable, events are cached and later redelivered.
Significantly less resource consumption
Version 0.3.2 focuses on performance and scalability. Many small background queries, unnecessary database connections and repeated calculations have been reduced or merged.
The result is particularly interesting for operators of several game servers:
- Redis searches were performed in the measured test windows by more than 99,9 Prozent reduziert.
- Three separate background services previously required around 495 MB Arbeitsspeicher. In the new combined operating mode, it was only about 164 MB – a savings of around 67 Prozent.
- The memory requirements of central RCON processes fell by approximately 31 to 40 percent.
- Historic scoreboards are cached and do not need to be recalculated every time they are called.
- Inactive services and open browser tabs cause significantly less unnecessary background load.
For customers, this means that more RCON instances can be operated on the same hardware without restricting usability or functionality.
A Faster Dashboard
The amount of data between server and browser has also been significantly reduced.
On a productive HLL Vietnam instance, the response size of the dashboard decreased from 14.09 MB to around 276 KB. This corresponds to a reduction of approximately 98 Prozent.
Another API answer for current logs has been provided by 8.6 MB to about 380 KB Reduced. Existing internal functions and time-based Automod queries are retained.
This ensures that:
- shorter loading times,
- less network traffic,
- lower CPU and memory load,
- a more fluid administration – even with extensive log data.
Stable with updates and restarts
An ongoing process does not automatically mean that an application is actually reachable. This is why we are checking Tool Now not only whether a process exists, but also whether web interface, API and live connection really respond.
In addition, the frontend automatically recognizes the new internal address after a backend restart. This reduces the risk that the interface will permanently stop after an update with a “502 Bad Gateway” error.
During the staggered tests, all four productive RCON instances remained accessible. Both Hell Let Loose and Hell Let Loose: Vietnam were considered.
Kontrolliertes Datenwachstum
New tools for controlled data retention are also available for large installations. Old game and audit data can be adjusted according to individually defined periods of time.
This function is deactivated by default. Before an actual deletion, a test run can first be carried out. Subsequently, the cleaning is carried out in limited, individually closed packages. This reduces the risk of long database locks and unexpected load peaks.
What do the updates mean for our customers?
Since v0.3.0, the Frontline RCON tool has not simply grown with new functions. The entire platform has been specifically prepared for the reliable and economical operation of several game servers.
Customers benefit from:
- a safe and comfortable Discord moderation,
- optional AI support with human control,
- faster charging administration surfaces,
- geringerem Hardwarebedarf,
- more stable updates and restarts,
- Full support for Hell Let Loose and Hell Let Loose: Vietnam.
This makes the Frontline RCON tool suitable for individual community servers as well as for providers and communities who want to centrally manage multiple game servers.
Do you want to moderate your game servers more easily and at the same time reduce the technical effort? Then now is the right time, that Frontline RCON Tool kennenzulernen.
Frequent questions about the RCON updates
What is the Frontline RCON Suite?
The Frontline RCON Suite bundles administration, moderation and the ongoing operation of game servers in a common interface.
For whom are the RCON updates suitable?
They are aimed at admin teams and communities who want to structure recurring tasks and process processes in a comprehensible manner.
Which tasks can be centralized?
Depending on the game, status, moderation, news, audit, roles and operational processes are part of the range of functions.
Is RCON replacing a moderation team?
No. The suite provides tools and traceability; rules and decisions remain the responsibility of the responsible people.
Can Frontline deploy RCON with a game server?
Yes. Game servers and management tools can be scheduled together so that infrastructure, access and support fit together.
Can an existing server be connected?
This depends on the game, interface and hosting access. Frontline checks existing setups before making a commitment.
How are access rights separated?
Permissions are given by roles and tasks so that not every team member needs full administrative access.
How can I test the RCON Suite?
Get in touch with the game, server size and desired application area. Then a suitable test setup can be prepared.
