Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is demanding on the PC, but can be played much quieter with a few targeted changes. The biggest levers are currently the master preset and the image reconstruction with DLSS or TSR. This guide provides a well-balanced start profile and helps you identify whether the graphics card, processor, graphics memory, or server is the real cause.

In short: Stelle zuerst Master Quality on Medium, danach DLSS Quality or TSR to 85 to 100 percent. Deactivate Lumen, Motion Blur and SSAO hardware, set FX to low and keep textures and visibility only as high as your system can stable.

Mittel

Master Quality

The best starting point for a calm, easy-to-read picture.

Quality

DLSS / TSR

With GPU limitation, first optimize the image reconstruction.

Excise

Lumen & Motion Blur

More reserves and a clearer picture when shooting and aiming.

Recommended Balanced Profile

Stelle zuerst Master Quality on Medium Then adjust the individual options. If you change the master preset again later, the game can overwrite individual values again.

The release benchmark of TroubleChute Master Quality and Image Reconstruction as the most important power lever. On an RTX 3080 Ti, the test scene rose from 91 to 138 FPS due to the preset. Depending on the card, CPU, resolution and patch, your result may differ significantly.

Which settings bring the most

First change

  1. Image Reconstruction: DLSS or TSR lowers the internal render resolution. This brings especially with almost fully utilized GPU performance.
  2. Master Quality: Medium is the reasonable starting point; Low is suitable for weaker systems or maximum frame rate.
  3. FX Quality: Particles, smoke and effects weigh heavily on large battles. Low creates reserves.
  4. Hardware Lumen: The lighting improves mainly shade and interiors, but is not necessary for smooth play.
  5. Reflection Quality: Medium preserves most of the visible quality without the load of higher levels.

Choose textures according to VRAM

Texture Quality mainly loads the graphics memory. As long as VRAM is still free, a higher level often costs little frame rate. If the memory is full, short hangers are created when turning, fuzzy surfaces and uneven frametimes. Start with High. If the VRAM is permanently exhausted in a full round, put textures on medium.

Wichtig: Test graphics options in a real, filled round. Tutorial and empty servers do not realistically map smoke, vehicles, helicopters, network states and 100 players.

Use DLSS, TSR and Frame Generation correctly

NVIDIA RTX: DLSS Quality

With an RTX graphics card DLSS Quality The best first choice. With 4K or clear GPU limitation, you can test Balanced. Performance greatly reduces internal resolution; in dense vegetation, opponent contours and fine branches become harder to read.

AMD, Intel and GTX: TSR

Begin with TSR 100 Prozent. With GPU limitation, reduce to 90, then 85, and at most 80 percent. Only go further down if additional FPS are more important to you than vegetation and distance sharpness.

FSR 4.1 is not yet unlocked at the status of this guide. Team17 has implemented the technology and announced it for a later update. Recommendations from older guides to activate FSR directly in the release menu are currently not applicable. XeSS is also not available.

Frame generation only with a stable base rate

Frame Generation is available on supported RTX-40 series NVIDIA graphics cards and later. Activate it only when the game without this feature keeps about 60 real FPS or more stable. It does not fix CPU jolters or server issues and can make the input delay more noticeable at low base rate. NVIDIA Reflex should remain on.

Three profiles for different goals

Competitive

  • Master: Low or Medium
  • DLSS Quality/Balanced or TSR 80–90 %
  • Lumen, SSAO, Motion Blur: Off
  • FX, Schatten, Post Processing: Niedrig
  • View Distance: Hoch

Balanced

  • Master: Mittel
  • DLSS Quality or TSR 90–100 %
  • Lumens: Off, FX: Low
  • Reflexionen, Schatten, GI: Mittel
  • Landscape and visibility: High

Quality

  • Master: Hoch
  • DLSS Quality or TSR 100 %
  • Lumens: Optional
  • FX and reflections: Means
  • Textures: High/Epic with free VRAM

Detecting GPU, CPU, VRAM or Server Limit

EngpassTypisches ZeichenWhat you change
GPU95-99% utilization; lower TSR or DLSS increases FPSUpscaling, Master, FX, Reflections and Reduce Lumens
CPU / Game ThreadGPU significantly under full load; low and high deliver similar FPSClosing Background Programs, Stably Limiting FPS
VRAMHangers when rotating; store full; textures load visibly afterTexture quality reduces one level
Server / NetworkPlayers jump, hits arrive late, local frametime remains normalTest servers with lower ping or less utilization

A more aggressive DLSS mode only helps with a GPU limit. In the case of rubberbanding or server problems, it only deteriorates the image quality. The FLN server overview Shows available frontline game worlds and their confirmed status.

  1. Install the current graphics driver. Announced specifically for HLL:V, the NVIDIA game-ready driver was on 15. August still delayed; Team17 recommends the latest driver available by then.
  2. If you participated in the crossplay playtest, set the video settings to default once. This will recalibrate them for the release build.
  3. Set the Balanced Profile and expressly press Apply / Acquire.
  4. Restart the game and check that all values have been saved. Reset settings are currently being examined.
  5. Test on the same map and in a comparable situation. Pay particular attention to short hangers and restless frametimes.
  6. Always change one option. Start with Upscaling, Master Quality and FX.
  7. Limiting strongly fluctuating FPS to a stable achievable value. Even 72 or 90 FPS often feel better than 80 to 130 FPS.

If problems remain, write down platform, hardware, driver version, exact error text and steps already tested. Thus, it is possible to use the Technical assistance from Frontline Distinguish faster between game, driver, network and server cause.

Update: Patch 1.2 is Live

Status 24. August 2026: Patch 1.2 was released on 21. August releases and bundles more than 500 corrections and improvements. This includes specific stability, input, map and display fixes. After the update, you should first remove old start parameters and workarounds, play an unchanged test round and only continue to deal with reproducible problems individually.

  • Xbox: A freeze while driving has been fixed.
  • PlayStation 5: Langsame Helikopter-Drehungen wurden stabilisiert.
  • PC and console: The 3D tactical map received performance improvements.
  • Server: A specific NVA tunnel crash cause has been fixed.
  • PC: Fixed a boot crash by clicking very quickly.

Patch 1.2 is not proof that every possible cause of the crash has been eliminated. Logs, reproducible steps and a test without old tweaks therefore remain important.

AMD crashes: official temporary workarounds

Patch 1.2 contains numerous stability corrections. If your AMD system continues to crash reproducibly, test first without any old parameters. Only if the problem remains, the following transitional solutions come into question individually. Open in Steam Features → General → Starting Options and first test exactly this variant:

-dx12 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system

If it doesn’t help, remove the complete line and alternatively test:

-dx11 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system
  • Graphic Preset Tested to High
  • In-Game Overlay in AMD Software: Deactivate Adrenaline Edition
  • Test again after patch 1.2 without starting parameters

Wichtig: These are temporary stability workarounds and not general FPS tweaks. Never use DX11 and DX12 at the same time. If your AMD system is running stable, there is no reason to enter these parameters as a precautionary measure.

Which Tweaks You Better Leave Out

Many search results mix the original Hell Let Loose, older Unreal Engine versions, and the new HLL:V release build. There is currently no reliable release proof for the following interventions:

  • alte Engine.ini-Tweaks from the classic Hell Let Loose
  • Regularly deleting shader caches
  • Changing HPET, Timer Resolution or Core Parking Globally
  • Permanently put the process on real-time priority
  • DLSS-DLL-Dateien manuell austauschen
  • USEALLAVAILABLECORES use as a FPS boost
  • Force frame generation at unstable or very low base rate

Some measures are reversible, but can cause new jerks, instability, poorer image quality, or security issues. First, use the visible game settings and official workarounds. In this way, it remains clear which change actually helped.

Frequent questions about the HLL:V performance

Welche Einstellung bringt am meisten FPS?

For a utilized graphics card, DLSS or TSR usually brings the biggest profit. The master quality preset is the most important general leverage. In the release benchmark, FX Quality also had a stronger effect than during the beta.

Should I use DLSS Quality or Balanced?

Start at 1440p and 4K with DLSS Quality. Change to Balanced only with clear GPU limitation. At 1080p, you should pay particular attention to vegetation sharpness.

Which option do I use with an AMD graphics card without FSR?

Use TSR and start at 100 percent. With full GPU usage, gradually reduce to 90, 85 and at most 80 percent. FSR 4.1 is announced, but not yet available in the current guide stand.

Is DLSS Frame Generation worth it?

On supported RTX-40 and RTX-50 graphics cards, yes, if the game already runs stable without generated intermediate images. At low base rate, it conceals the cause and can make the input delay more noticeable.

Why don’t my FPS go to Low?

Then probably does not limit the graphics card. In a full round, CPU, game thread or server state can be more important. If the GPU remains significantly under full load, more aggressive upscaling usually brings little.

What can I do about AMD crashes?

Team17 temporarily recommends testing a DX12 or DX11 launch option individually, setting the preset to high and turning off the AMD adrenaline overlay. After patch 1.2, you should test again without starting parameters.

Why are my settings not saved?

Reset or unsaved settings are among the officially investigated launch issues. Explicitly press Take, restart and control the values. Former Playtest players should first reset the video menu to standard.

How do I recognize a CPU or GPU limit?

Observe GPU usage, frametime and individual CPU cores in the same game situation. Low GPU utilization at fluctuating frametime peaks suggests a CPU or engine limit.
