Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Patch 1.4 – all major changes

5. September 2026From Wuz

Status: 5. September 2026. Patch 1.4 for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam has been since the 2. Available September 4th. This was followed by Hotfix 1.4.1 for AMD stability. According to the developers, the update delivers around 200 fixes and improvements. The focus is on voice chat, map markings, stability, DLSS 4.5, tunnels, helicopters, control and progress. New maps or weapons, on the other hand, are not part of this patch.

Patch 1.4 is therefore not a large content update, but an important quality update. Many changes affect issues that could immediately disrupt a running round: distorted voices in proximity chat, permanently visible reconnaissance markers, a possible relapse to career level 1 or erroneous input in vehicles. We summarize the most important changes in German and rank what players and server operators should now pay attention to.

Patch 1.4 coming soon

  • Approximately 200 fixes and improvements for game, interface, maps and server management
  • Fix for distorted or robotic voices in Proximity Chat, still under observation
  • Fixes for permanently visible Recon plane and flare markers on the tactical map
  • DLSS 4.5 and additional 5x and 6x frame generation on supported Nvidia RTX-50 hardware
  • Protective measures against resetting the career level to level 1
  • Better information for tunnel travel, garrisons and resource nodes
  • Numerous improvements to helicopters, control, UI, audio, tutorials and environments
  • Improved RCON operation for card order

VOIP and Card Markers: Two Particularly Disturbing Mistakes

Proximity Chat should sound understandable again

The distorted, metallic or robotic voices in the proximity chat were among the most striking problems of recent weeks. Patch 1.4 fixes this error, according to the development team. At the same time, the behavior is further monitored. This formulation is important: The fix is officially included, but should continue to be reported in different individual cases.

For Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Functional communication is a core component of gameplay. Position messages, warnings and spontaneous agreements must also remain understandable outside of one’s own squad. If you continue to have problems with voice channels, microphone or group chat after the update, you will find in our HLL-Vietnam-Troubleshooting the main test steps.

Recon Plane and Flare no longer leave phantom markers

Another focus is on intelligence markers. Symbols of Recon Plane and Flare could remain on the tactical map, although their actual duration of action had already ended. This led to incorrect situational pictures and unnecessary uncertainty for commanders and squad leads. Patch 1.4 addresses these persistent markers; here, too, the developers continue to observe the result after publication.

HLL Vietnam Performance Guide to Patch 1.4

Patch 1.4 improves technique and stability, but does not solve every performance problem. Especially important is the 4th. In September, Hotfix 1.4.1 released: It aims to make crashes on some AMD GPUs rarer. The developers also make it clear that the investigation continues together with AMD and the hotfix is not yet a complete solution for all AMD configurations.

DLSS 4.5 richtig einsetzen

DLSS 4.5 brings a new reconstruction model and can improve motion representation, edges and fine detail. As a starting point, we recommend the “Quality” mode at 1440p or 4K. “Balanced” makes sense if the frame rate is not yet stable enough. “Performance” or “Ultra Performance” should only follow if the render resolution for your own display still delivers a clean image. At 1080p, a mode that is too aggressive often costs more picture clarity than it practically wins.

If suddenly strong stuttering occurs after a card change, a one-time off and on again of DLSS with subsequent “application” can help. This is a player-reported workaround, not a confirmed general fix. If the problem persists, completely disable DLSS and use the native resolution as a comparison. This makes it possible to identify whether the upscaler is involved or whether CPU, shader, memory or server connection are the actual cause.

Frame Generation: More images, but no higher basic performance

The additional 5x and 6x modes are only available on supported Nvidia RTX-50 hardware. Multi Frame Generation generates multiple intermediate images, but neither increases the actually calculated simulation rate nor eliminates a restless basic frametime. Therefore, Frame Generation should only be activated if the game is already stable without this function. As a practical starting point, at least about 50 to 60 real images per second are considered.

  • Start with DLSS "Quality" and 2x or 3x instead of immediately choosing the highest multiplier.
  • Reduce the multiplier in case of input delay, HUD artifacts or non-uniform movement.
  • Test separately on graphics cards with scarce video memory textures and frame generation.
  • For a diagnosis, first deactivate driver overrides and additional frame-generation functions.

AMD issues after patch 1.4 and hotfix 1.4.1

AMD users should first ensure that Hotfix 1.4.1 is installed. According to the development team, it reduces certain stability problems, but does not fix every cause of a crash. FSR 4.1 is scheduled for a later update and does not belong to patch 1.4 or 1.4.1. Until a complete solution, careful, individually tested changes make more sense than a package of many tweaks set at the same time.

  1. Check game files: After patch and hotfix, verify the installation files via Steam.
  2. Treiber sauber eingrenzen: Use a current stable AMD adrenaline driver and test deactivate additional functions such as AFMF, anti-lag overrides or external overlays during troubleshooting.
  3. Gore testweise ausschalten: The developers already cited this as a possible measure against certain AMD crashes. Patch 1.4 fixes a specific cause around blood and decal effects, in the case of persistent crashes, the test remains low risk.
  4. Grafikprofil „Hoch“ testen: This sounds unusual, but has been cited as an official transition workaround for some affected AMD systems. If it does not improve, return to the previous values.
  5. DirectX-Modus einzeln testen: As a temporary start option, -dx12 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system called. In the case of persistent crashes, alternatively -dx11 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system under consideration. Never set both variants at the same time and remove ineffective options.

Current workarounds against stuttering and bad frametimes

A short jerk on the first appearance of certain weapons, effects or objects can be related to shader and PSO caching. The developers confirm that after content changes, additional data can be built in the background. After an update, it is therefore worthwhile to let the game start completely, not immediately switch between several graphic profiles and first use a round or the practice area to set up the caches.

  • Change graphics settings individually and compare the same game situation after each step.
  • Choose a stable FPS boundary instead of fluctuating strongly between very high and low values.
  • Reduce textures when video memory is fully occupied; reduce shadow and visibility when the GPU is permanently utilized.
  • At low GPU usage and poor FPS, consider CPU limit, shader build, or a full server as the cause.
  • Don’t confuse ping or packet loss issues with render stutters: network problems generate position jumps, but not necessarily bad local frametime.

A more detailed step-by-step diagnosis with recommended graphic options and measured values can be found in our continuously maintained Performance Guide for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam.

Progress, tactical map and spawn system

Patch 1.4 introduces additional safeguards to prevent an account’s career level from being reset to Level 1. In addition, the final evaluation shows the experience points required for the next level correctly again. The morale indicator has also been corrected so that its values better reflect the actual state of play.

The three-dimensional tactical map now displays the radii of resource nodes. This makes planning easier and makes overlaps visible faster. When connecting tunnels and garrisons, feedback became more understandable, and the travel screen shows the required tunnel time. Players who run through the blueprint of a spawn point no longer block its construction. Commanders can also place their abilities via spawn points.

Gameplay, Equipment and Revival

Several small changes ensure that actions in combat are carried out more reliably. The revival is no longer canceled if a downcast player is drawn at the same time. The placement of explosive charges was improved and problems with the activation of buildable objects were corrected. Defeated soldiers now drown as intended; in addition, the patch fixes various errors when swimming and under water.

These adjustments seem unspectacular on paper, but eliminate the very friction points that can decide on a held spawn, a destroyed target or a lost attack in scarce situations.

Helicopters, vehicles and inputs

Helicopters receive several practical corrections. The gunners now take into account the setting for “switch targets”. The inversion for free aiming was separated from the vehicle or helicopter inversion, which allows different control profiles to be configured more cleanly. Advertisements around supply charges have also been revised.

In addition, problems with using mouse buttons and controller inputs were resolved. Menus, hints and settings respond more consistently, and changed options are adopted more reliably. Anyone who changes between infantry, tank and helicopter should still check his occupancy after the patch.

UI, audio, tutorials and more than 100 environment fixes

Patch 1.4 corrects numerous display errors in HUD, scoreboard, settings menus, and controller hints. The depth of field now works correctly regardless of the selected field of view. Previously, low FOV levels could cause weapons to appear unintentionally fuzzy. In addition, several audio errors as well as problems in tutorials and on the training ground were fixed.

The card maintenance is again particularly extensive. More than 100 corrections affect terrain, objects, collisions, clipping, LOD levels, visibility, water surfaces and general visual details. As a result, not all known map problems disappear in one fell swoop, but the number shows how much detail work is in this update.

What is changing for Community Server and RCON?

Server operators get a small but useful improvement in the RCON management: The card order can be changed by drag-and-drop, and the button to move a map sequence works correctly again. After the update, admins should check whether the server and client versions match, whether the desired rotation is active and whether VOIP and reconnaissance markers react correctly in a real round.

If you operate your own server and want to centrally manage administration, moderation or card rotation, you will find both Hell-Let-Loose-Vietnam-Serverhosting as well as one RCON solution for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam.

What is not included in patch 1.4?

Patch 1.4 does not bring a new map, a new faction or new weapons. The M14 rifles for the US side and Type 56 SKS for the NVA announced for the later update 1.5 are expressly not part of this update. The announced revision of the licensed Huey model is also part of the further roadmap. If you only want to return for new content, patch 1.4 should therefore be understood as the technical basis for the next extensions.

Our conclusion about Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Patch 1.4

Patch 1.4 starts in the right places. Intelligible voice chat, reliable map information and protection of progress are more important than a long list of new items if the foundation still needs to be improved. DLSS 4.5 and the stability corrections are also welcome. At the same time, the update does not remain a miracle cure for every performance or connection problem. The decisive factor now is how the changes will prove themselves in full matches on different platforms.
