Hell let Loose: Vietnam

HLL Vietnam at launch: Construction sites, but a strong foundation

15. August 2026From the bee

The start of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam shows two sides: on the one hand there are crashes, server frustration and technical problems. On the other is a tactical shooter, whose new setting is already developing a strong identity of its own. After the first 24 hours, the development team has officially confirmed several points of criticism and announced a first hotfix.

Update: Patch 1.2 is Live

Status 24. August 2026: Patch 1.2 was released on 21. August releases and bundles more than 500 corrections and improvements. This includes specific stability, input, map and display fixes. After the update, you should first remove old start parameters and workarounds, play an unchanged test round and only continue to deal with reproducible problems individually.

  • Xbox: A freeze while driving has been fixed.
  • PlayStation 5: Langsame Helikopter-Drehungen wurden stabilisiert.
  • PC and console: The 3D tactical map received performance improvements.
  • Server: A specific NVA tunnel crash cause has been fixed.
  • PC: Fixed a boot crash by clicking very quickly.

Patch 1.2 is not proof that every possible cause of the crash has been eliminated. Logs, reproducible steps and a test without old tweaks therefore remain important.

What’s Wrong Since Launch

The most noticeable issues are not just individual community reports. Team17 and Expression Games cite game and server crashes, stability issues—especially with AMD users—server list difficulties, audio and VOIP errors, fluctuating image quality, vegetation issues, and settings that are not reliably stored.

  • Game and server crashes
  • Stability problems with certain AMD systems
  • Full or confusing server lists
  • Audio, VOIP and presentation errors
  • Reset graphics and control settings

What Hotfix 1 should improve

The first hotfix according to the offiziellen Launch-Update tackle AMD stability, server crashes, server list sorting and updating, and audio outages on PlayStation 5. In addition, more official servers will be provided. Major corrections follow with the first regular patch.

Until these improvements take effect, it is worth taking a look at our HLL:V Performance Guide. There you will find meaningful starting values for image quality, upscaling and the most important power reserves.

Why the foundation is still right

A difficult launch is not yet proof of a bad game. Among the technical construction sites, much of what makes Hell Let Loose work already: communication, role distribution, long arcs of tension and battles, which are decided by positioning instead of mere reaction speed.

Vietnam is significantly changing this well-known formula. Dense vegetation, short lines of sight, elevation differences, tunnels, waterways and helicopters create a different combat dynamic than in World War II. Who newly joins, finds the most important systems and roles in our The Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Guide.

Our interim conclusion

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is not yet where it should be technically. The problems that have been confirmed concern central areas and must not be minimized. At the same time, the playful core is strong enough to remain optimistic. What matters now are fast hotfixes, traceable patch notes and permanently stable servers.
